6 Tips For Spring Cleaning

 In News

It is officially spring and that means it’s officially time for spring cleaning! Giving your space, indoor and out, a deep clean is refreshing and immensely satisfying. Not quite sure where to start? No need to stress. Use these easy-to-follow tips for a beautifully spring-cleaned house in no time.

1. Declutter

This is the perfect place to start. It can be a little difficult deep cleaning with a lot of stuff laying around. Prior to cleaning, bust open your junk drawers (or cupboards. No judgment here!) and clear off your desk by tossing things you no longer need. Old papers and receipts tend to add up in places like this. Go to your closets and decide which clothes you actually wear and donate or toss the rest. Decluttering will help your home and mind run more efficiently and will keep things organized. You’ll breathe a big sigh of relief once you eliminate the unnecessary from your life.

2. Create a List

Now that you’ve cleared all the junk, you may want to consider making a list of all the tasks you want to tackle. Think about the areas that need the most work and make a plan. This helps keep you focused on the tasks at hand.

3. Replace the Filters

Replacing used furnace and HVAC filters are often overlooked, but it’s a very important part of keeping your home safe and clean. You might think about replacing your old standard filter with a higher quality filter that will keep you and your loved ones healthier as the particles of spring make their way into the air. This is an easy, inexpensive way to make sure the air your breathing is clean. If you want to take it a step further, invest in an air purifier. It can really improve the air quality in your home and be helpful for anyone that suffers from allergies.

4. The Great Outdoors

Don’t forget to give some attention to your outdoor spaces. The exterior of your home often takes a beating in the winter weather and could use some TLC. Wash the windows, sweep the porch, power wash the walls (be sure to research how to do this to prevent damage to your home or paint), clear out window wells, and shake out doormats. You will likely need to give some attention to your gardens and flower beds, as winter weeds may have made their appearance.

5. Trade Out Decor

Springtime brings a light, bright, and airy feel. If your home is feeling dark and heavy, make small changes by swapping out some home decor. Pillows, artwork, bedding, and towels can easily and inexpensively refresh a space. Of course, you don’t need to throw away or donate these things if you still like them. Just store them in an organized fashion in a closet, attic, or basement where you can access them come autumn.

6. Resolve to Stay Clean

Let your newly cleaned home set the tone for a new way of living. It’s much easier to keep things clean than it is to make dirty things clean. Consider making a cleaning schedule you follow each day so tasks don’t pile up.
